Support for women entrepreneurs Melbourne
My Weekend Career is a beta digital portal created by Amanda Watts of Design Junkies.

“I SAW A NEED FOR RELEVANTGOOD QUALITY INFORMATION & SUPPORT FOR WOMEN WITH AN ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT – SO THEY CAN BUILD A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS AND LIFE

After 10+ years of creating brands, websites & marketing material for her clients at Design Junkies, Amanda is taking the next step in her career; giving back to the growing community of businesses flourishing online and teaching women who want a piece of the action – how they can do it too!

A lover of patterns (mainly stripes and spots) she spends her weekends trawling Pinterest for gorgeous interior design ideas and proudly amassed 1500+ followers on her Pinterest page.

and now the longer ( less glamorous) version…

I had been cultivating this business in my head for over 9 months. I knew my customer, my positioning, my strengths and goals – but kept beating myself up about fitting everything in my schedule. I WANTED everything to be PERFECT before I launched.

After facilitating some of my small business workshops I realised I would have to practice what I preach. Design Junkies keeps me very busy and struggled to commit time to ‘My Weekend Career’ development during the week. So I figured I should actually do exactly what I am asking you guys to do, only work on it during the weekends or after hours. (No cheating)

So this is where you find me today, you may have stumbled upon this site through google or perhaps we met at a networking event, but I promise you, what I do here is very authentic and very me. This industry moves so fast and I have had so much experience across a number of areas I really want to share it with you guys so you can develop a business that works for you.

The way we market our businesses and services has changed. For almost the first time in history solo-preneurs, startups and dreamers have a chance to make a difference in the world. Large department stores are desperate, retail is struggling and people want authenticity. We don’t want big nameless brands, we want integrity and a real person. Am sure to rant about this a bit more in a blog – but really it’s an exciting time to be doing what we are doing. It’s not about being perfect, start, test, change, evolve – it’s fun you need to take that first step.

Thanks for your time, please join the Make Your Own Luck’ Club and let’s do this!
